So in a nutshell:
SOME RELATED TERMS EXPLAINED
1. Socialism
Here the main objective is to achieve equality for all. It wants to remove the class conflicts which were prevalent in Europe & Americas in the modern age. The means of achieving this were majority public(government) ownership of assets and equal distribution of income amongst all. This is not practically possible so it was implemented through guaranteed retirement pension, free education & health care and unemployment allowances. It has been brilliantly implemented in Nordic nations showcasing its benefits but its downfalls can also be observed in Venezuela. (EXPLAINED HERE)
2, Communism
It is a more radical & revolutionary approach towards socialism. It believes that a very strong centre with complete control over the society can only help in proper implementation of socialist policies. Therefore, it gives rise to dictators who strictly follow the communist ideology. In the present scenario, Communist governments still exist in imperfect form in China, Cuba, Laos & Vietnam. It should be noted that it was the works of Karl Marx which inspired the creation of several communist regimes around the world
3. Fascism
Fascism is a system in which only one party dominates the political sphere. So basically its a one party dictatorship. Unlike Communism, it embraces the elites of the society to build the economy. There is strong suppression & propaganda in fascism as well. They also tend to be racist targetting a particular group to divert attention. Some prominent examples of fascism are Italy's Mussolini, Germany's Hitler & Spain's Francisco Franco.
4. Monarchy
Its a form of government in which person is the head of state till death or abdication. The successor is chosen by the monarch only. Democratic countries like Japan, England and even Sweden have monarchs as head of state. However here they have very less executive power but still hold influence. On the other hand, in countries like Oman, UAE, Saudi Arabia & Swaziland the king is still the main head of state making all the decisions.
4. Theocracy
In theocracy, a priest is considered to be chosen as a head of state by God. Such nations have dominant religions and beliefs. The priest usually has the power to choose the executive head of state. Such type of governments are found in Iran & Vatican City.
5. Conservatives & Liberals
Conservatives are the softer version of right wing politics where as liberals are softer version of left wing politics. These have already been discussed in detail before.
6.Oligarchy
Here, the power rests with a few powerful families or people. It can be mostly due to their tremendous wealth & connections with mafia & the government. Its prevalent in imperfect form in Russia, Ukraine & even the United States (Thank You Capitalism!
CONCLUSION
In the current scenario, most of the world's nations are democratic
.
American victory in the Cold War spelled the end of communism. It exited from Russia as well as Eastern Europe.
Since the early 2000s, right wing politicians have emerged as world leaders of the majority of countries. This implies a more narrow vision of the people as they focus more on their country than globalisation.
The Left-Right wing politics emerged in the French Revolution. The aristocrats having orthodox views sat on the right side of the assembly whereas the new political thinkers believing in liberty & equality sat on the left.
Non democratic nations are more prevalent in Africa & Asia.
