EXPERTS HAVE STILL FOUND NO CURE FOR THE CORONA-VIRUS. HERS'S WHY.
Despite tremendous advancements in the field of medical science, the world has still found only one cure: LOCKDOWN.
The virus has destroyed lives, disrupted economics & caused mayhem since its global inception. No nation has been spared from the carnage & now scientists around the world are scrambling for a functioning vaccine. The first case was recorded as early as in November 2019. So it's almost 13 months now without a vaccine. Long time, isn't it?
AS PER MY ANALYSIS THE POTENTIAL REASONS FOR THIS DELAY ARE:
1. LACK OF GLOBAL COHESION
Ever since the pandemic started, all nations seem to have adopted an isolationist policy in preparing a vaccine. The Americans had a disasterclass in waiting after Mr. Trump blatantly ignored the imminent threat and acted in a nonchalant manner. Other global and regional powers like UK, Russia as well as the EU have failed to take the mantle and collaborate efforts to find a cure. A joint effort combining the human capital as well as scientific resources of various nations would have yielded much early success.
2. GREED
The major pharma companies of the globe like Sun Pharma, Cipla & Biocon could have found a vaccine much swiftly if they would have combined their research. However, if they do so, then a patent cannot be filed by a single company. So no company can have a monopoly on the most sought after vaccine and generate bucket-loads of money. This quest for a cash cow has further elongated the wait for a vaccine.
3. LATE DISCOVERY
China successfully concealed the true threat of the corona-virus from the world. Perhaps if Beijing had alerted other governments, remedial actions could have been taken much earlier. But China's & WHO's poor management has lead to the loss of millions of lives and caused economic loss in the tune of billions.
4. WHO
The most guilty party in this affair can be the World Health Organisation. American defunding left a vacuum at the top. China swiftly took the mantle and started exerting influence on the proceedings. In fact, in early January, the WHO declared that "human to human transmission" of COVID is a rumor! Taking their advice, many countries eased restrictions which escalated the spread of the virus. Many experts feel this was a decree of Xi Jinping followed to the letter by WHO's Ethiopian Chief Tedros Adhanom. Mr. Adhanon may have followed the instructions in exchange for China substantially reducing Ethiopia's BRI Debt owed to China which according to Forbes stood at US$ 13,5 billion at the start of 2020.
